Analytical when it matters. Practical when life gets messy.
Robert entered triathlon in 2008 and apparently forgot to leave. Since then, endurance sport has taken him through long-course triathlon, ultra running, Spartan racing and 20+ Ironman finishes.
Robert enjoys the numbers behind endurance sport—training load, pacing, power, heart rate, testing and progression—but believes data only becomes useful when interpreted in the context of the athlete producing it.
A beautiful training plan that does not fit your life is still a bad training plan.

Robert Welsford is an accomplished Information Technology professional with over 25 years of experience, specializing in Cybersecurity for the past 7 years. He holds industry-recognized certifications including CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Security Controls), reflecting his expertise in securing complex systems and managing information risk.
Before his IT career, Robert served 10 years in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves with the Ontario Regiment, leaving in 2002 at the rank of Master Corporal. His leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence have carried over into both his professional and athletic pursuits.
His dedication to pushing limits—whether in the boardroom, on the battlefield, or across the finish line—defines his professional and personal ethos.
